Local & Fully Virtual

Serving Meadow Lake and the North West

Families across Meadow Lake and the North West, the gateway to the northern lakes, complete their separation agreement with us remotely. Meetings with Hailee are available by video or phone. She confirms jurisdiction and licensed scope before engagement, and explains any separate lawyer, signing or court steps that apply.

Why People Choose Peace Family Agreements

Hailee can advise and negotiate unresolved family-agreement terms out of court within her licensed scope. She assesses whether the work is appropriate and safe. Litigation, courtroom representation and work outside that scope require another professional.

You know the cost upfront. No hourly billable surprise. Budget and plan ahead.

Speed

Hailee explains the expected steps and timing for your file.

Professional Drafting

What We Can Do For You, and What We Cannot

As a limited licensee we give legal advice, negotiate, and draft and complete documents on your behalf, all out of court. Which of those you actually need depends on your situation. If the terms are settled, the work is advice and drafting. If terms are still open and you want us negotiating them for you, that is Negotiated Separation and it is priced separately. We act for one person, never both. If your matter moves outside our scope, we say so and refer you to a litigation firm.

Direct Negotiation

On a Negotiated Separation we deal with your partner or their advisor directly, out of court, and you get licensed advice at every step. On the mostly-agreed packages we advise and draft rather than negotiate.

Fixed-Fee

Fixed-fee packages, confirmed in writing after intake. Prices exclude GST & PST; your fixed fee is confirmed upfront and payment terms agreed in writing, no retainer. Know your cost upfront. Additional work is discussed and agreed separately.

Completely Virtual

Meet from home by video, email, or phone. Anywhere in Saskatchewan.

What a Separation Agreement Protects

A separation agreement puts the essentials in writing, so both partners share the same understanding, and the terms reached are clearly recorded for future reference.

Property & Assets

Real estate, vehicles, investments, bank accounts, all divided clearly. Each party knows what they own.

Debt Division

Mortgages, credit cards, loans, assigned to the party responsible. The agreement records your agreed responsibilities; creditor rights may need separate attention.

Parenting Time

Parenting-time schedule, decision-making authority and legal status, written down clearly. Stability for kids.

Child Support

The applicable table amount is generally the starting point. Additional or post-secondary expenses, shared parenting and income determination require attention to the circumstances and applicable law; the tables alone do not settle every support question.

Spousal Support

If applicable: amount, duration, variation terms. Include the review or change process your circumstances need.

Future Changes

How to modify the agreement if circumstances change. Built-in flexibility for life.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a separation agreement and why do I need one?

A separation agreement is a written document setting out how you and your partner divide property and debt, arrange parenting, and handle support. It records the terms you agree. Hailee explains their legal effect and the signing steps for your situation.

Is your service completely virtual?

Yes. We serve clients throughout Saskatchewan entirely online, video calls, email and phone. You work from home, at your convenience, wherever you are in the province.

How long does this take?

Timing depends on the information needed, the terms to resolve, signing requirements and any court processing. Hailee discusses the expected steps and timing for your file.

Can a separation agreement be done before a divorce?

Yes. Many couples put a separation agreement in place first to settle terms, then formalize the divorce later. The agreement can stand on its own or roll into your divorce documents when you're ready.

What if our matter becomes contested?

Unresolved terms do not by themselves rule out advice or negotiation. Hailee assesses whether the work is appropriate and safe within her licensed scope. If courtroom representation or other work outside that scope is needed, she explains the appropriate next step.

Can you help with child support calculations?

Yes. Child support is worked out using the Federal Child Support Tables for Saskatchewan and both parents' incomes. Spousal support, where there is entitlement, is assessed against the Spousal Support Advisory Guidelines, which are advisory rather than law. We walk you through the numbers and document them properly.

Do we both need separate lawyers?

Both parties are always encouraged to obtain independent legal advice before signing any agreement. We are happy to provide independent legal advice for one party. The other party should obtain independent legal advice from another family law professional. Each person should understand their own rights and obligations before signing. For an interspousal property agreement under section 38 of The Family Property Act, each spouse must make the required acknowledgment before a lawyer who does not represent the other spouse and has not taken the other spouse's acknowledgment. Peace can advise and draft within its licensed scope; we coordinate the required separate lawyers for those acknowledgments.
